How it works

1
Open BeamUp on both devicesSame Wi‑Fi or same account and they see each other at once. Anywhere else, pair once with a code or QR.
2
Pick what to send and tap a devicePhotos, files, a folder, a link or some text. The other side gets an Accept prompt with a matching code.
3
It arrives, directlyBytes go browser to browser over an encrypted connection. Nothing is uploaded; the Pro relay only forwards when no direct path exists.

Does it need the internet?

Both devices need a connection to find each other, but the files travel directly between them over your Wi‑Fi. Pro can relay to your own devices when a direct path is impossible.

Is it private?

Every transfer is encrypted end to end (DTLS) and confirmed with a matching code on both screens. Files never touch our servers.

Does it work with iPhone?

Yes — open BeamUp in Safari, add it to your home screen, and it works with Windows, macOS and Android the same way.

Do I need an account?

No. Nearby devices just work. Sign in to see all your devices from anywhere, keep history and go Pro.

Is there a size limit?

Not for direct transfers. Big files stream straight to disk on desktop Chrome and Edge. The cloud relay is capped per day by plan.

Where do received files go?

Into your Downloads folder — or a folder you pick for large transfers. Text and links come with a Copy button.
